From town lots to acreage
In Port Perry the detached four-bedroom is the move-up house, mostly built between the late eighties and the two-thousands on streets west of Old Simcoe Road and north toward the arena, with brick fronts, double garages and a finished basement more often than not. A smaller group sits on the older streets by the lake, where a Victorian two-storey on Mary or Perry Street has four rooms up and a third-floor attic. Rural Scugog supplies the rest. Raised bungalows on acreage count their lower-level rooms; farmhouses near Nestleton, along Cartwright's concession roads and around Greenbank carry four or five off the hall; and custom builds of the past two decades on estate lots near Utica and the moraine slopes offer the newest four-bedroom plans in the township, generally with a three-car garage and a walk-out where the land allows.
